For my proposed product, I developed Nike Recover, a recovery shoe designed for people who spend long periods of time on their feet. The shoe would include extra cushioning, arch support, and lightweight materials to improve recovery and comfort. My market research supports Nike’s focus on innovation. Nike Recover could appeal to healthcare workers, active individuals, and others who are on their feet for long periods of time.
One important industry trend is the connection between fitness and technology. Wearable technology is a major fitness trend, along with technology that helps consumers better understand their activity and recovery (ACSM,2025). This gives Nike Recover a great opportunity because people are a lot more interested in products that support wellness.
My marketing strategy needs to follow legal and ethical industry standards. Nike needs to accurately advertise the benefits of Nike Recover without making any unsupported claims. The FTC states that companies need appropriate evidence to support health related product claims (FTC,2022). Nike also needs to protect customer privacy if the shoe collects information through the app.
One limitation of my market proposal is that Nike Recover is a proposed product so there is no sales data. Surveys and secondary research will help show customer interest but cannot guarantee anything. Another limitation is that different groups within a target market may have different needs. Healthcare workers may look for different features than a runner. There also may be gaps in research about the pricing of the shoe and how much people are willing to pay. Additional surveys and product testing will be the only way to get solid information before launching the product.
Overall, my research shows that Nike Recover could definitely meet a need for comfortable and supportive footwear while also fitting with current fitness trends. More research would help us to better understand pricing, consumer demand, and preferred features.
